Does Menu icon only work for Submenu?

I've specified a menu icon for each Start menu entry. However, if an entry has a submenu, the icon only appears for the submenu. Is there a way to make the icon display for the parent menu as well?

Currently icons cannot be set for parent menus. Let's see if this could be improved in the future. ;)
