FastKeys 6.03 Standard Edition (portable install)
Windows 11 Enterprise 23H2 (22631.5768)
Auto-start via (non-elevated) shortcut in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Start PC
  2. Open FastKeys UI
  3. Edit a Shortcut or Text Expander
  4. Save
The item is saved, but then immediately FastKeys will crash.

If I then run it again, it works fine for the rest of the day.

It seems to happen only after a reboot. Could it be caused by the startup shortcut? Is it because of the portable install?

PS. This has only been observed recently, so around the time of upgrading from 5 to 6, but I can't be sure exactly when.

I tested it on our computers but cannot reproduce the issue. Do you get an error message? Please check your security software and make sure it doesn't block FastKeys.

No error. It just crashes.

Most of the time it just works. I've been using it for years.

Is there logging I could turn on to capture the error next time it happens?

FastKeys is most probably occasionally blocked by anti-virus or other security program. Check anti-virus settings and white-list FastKeys. Also look for “keyboard protection” or similar settings.
Is FastKeys still running? Do you see a FastKeys Tray icon?
