There has been a couple of times where I have been executing a macro that suddenly went awry, and it started doing crazy things in the program/file I was working on, and I had to go back to a previous saved file since it ruined it completely. Both times I was helpless to stop it. Is there a way to do an emergency shutdown and stop the macro immediately?

The best way is to set the shortcut to Reload FastKeys in Preferences/General/Shortcuts.
