Re: Capitalise word after full stop
After an hour's search of the forum, the documents, and the online videos, I answered my own question by accident. For anyone else stumped by this, do the following. Go to: Preferences->Functions->tick Correct Sentence Capitals The trick is not to search for 'Upper Case', 'period', 'Start Sentence',...

Capitalise word after full stop
I cannot find the answer to this anywhere in the Help files or discussion. It's probably so basic I shouldn't ask, especially after years with FastKeys. How do you make Text Expander capitalise an abbreviation after a period? In other words, how do you turn this: 'Capitalise the start of the next se...

Re: FastKeys 5.13 is..very..slow
Thanks, Marko - a slow reply because of the Christmas break, but I did appreciate your solution and have used it. Let me ask a follow up: if I wanted to keep a note of your solution somewhere *inside* FastKeys is that possible? It means for every reinstall, on new devices, I can immediately call up ...

FastKeys 5.13 is..very..slow
Hi, I've been an occasional poster for some years - so, an advocate of FastKeys. I'm using 5.13 but it's extremely slow. I imported one ahk phrase file, 5,000 words, which took 10 minutes to load as a New Tab, 2 words per second on my local drive. Never happened before. Every action (save, close etc...

Re: slow load/save - again
Thanks, Tom - I'll do that with the ongoing save/load issue. On resizing the dialog window: It would be simplest to upload an image, which I can't seem to do here. However, resizing still keeps half of the OK and the Cancel buttons cut off and the 'fewer options' tag. They're all useable, just, but ...

slow load/save - again
Hi, I posted on this recently, but the problem has returned with a vengeance in FK5. If I try to save a new text expander entry (eg use 'exp' for 'experience'), it now takes a good 5 seconds simply for the dialogue box to close. Same with saving or closing the main window which seems as if it's actu...

Re: Really slow to save
Thanks, Marco. I didn't know about this and it was set to 30 backups. I've heavily reduced this. With luck, that's now fixed the problem. Oblomov, thanks for your reply. I raised the question because I have FastKeys on 2 different machines and the slow problem only surfaced on one. The other machine...

Re: Really slow to save
Thanks, Marco. I tried your suggestions and the trials eventually revealed a different problem. Every time FastKeys saves, it saves a new copy of the fdb file. Sample below. I don't know how to stop this happening, nor how it first began. But it almost certainly explains the sluggish save, and loadi...

Really slow to save
Hi, I'm baffled by unusually slow saving behaviour with FastKeys. It can take 10 seconds to do this, and it's never happened in the years I've used the programme. I've twice uninstalled and reinstalled it; I'm using the most recent version; I've changed the save location from Dropbox to my C Drive i...

Can you save as fkp phrase file?
Hi,
Is it possible to save a fkp phrase file?
It doesn't seem possible from the file menu (which appears to save only as .fdb).
I want to do this so that I can edit the fkp file as a simple text file in something like Notepad. Then it's easy to re-import it as an fkp or ahk file.
